FINANCIAL MANAGER
Libby has adopted Western North Carolina as her home, having grown up in Kentucky and lived throughout the southeast in her career. She spent most of her working life in corporate, small business, and nonprofit accounting.
Although Libby has no lived experience with incarceration, she began a calling to serve in this field after adopting a dog from a prison training program in Florida. Led by her faith, she started a book club behind the wall, taught classes on entrepreneurship, and worked with incarcerated men to develop a re-entry transition program to help men without family or other support as they neared release. Libby was named Volunteer of the Month for the Florida Department of Corrections in March 2020.
After meeting Philip Cooper in March of 2022, Libby knew she had found her “person” in the re-entry community. She began serving on the board of Operation Gateway and was eventually hired as the Finance Manager. Libby considers it a privilege to work with such dedicated people who truly seek to serve the marginalized in our region.
She heads up the Justice Ministry Team at St. Philip’s in Brevard, is a Justice Ambassador for Prison Fellowship, and works with others across the country in the Episcopal Prison Ministry Community. When she’s not doing the work she loves with justice-involved folks, Libby loves to hike, travel to visit family and friends, and working in the yard. Being outdoors feeds her soul!
