REENTRY NAVIGATOR
Lynn Mouyios is a dedicated Community Health Worker and Peer Support Specialist, whose life journey has been marked by resilience and transformation. A native of New Jersey, Lynn's early years were shaped by significant challenges. After moving south with her family due to her mother's job transfer with BellSouth, her world was upended at the age of 12 when her father passed away. Sent back to New Jersey, Lynn struggled to cope with the loss and was prescribed Valium, which led to a period of substance use and troubled behavior.
By 16, Lynn found herself entrenched in the world of drug dealing, selling cocaine and learning to cook crack. At 17, she faced legal consequences, receiving a DUI charge. These years were turbulent, marked by instability and constant movement, as she searched for a place to belong. At 27, she gave birth to her only child, a pivotal moment that sparked a gradual shift in her life’s direction.
Despite the hardships she faced, Lynn was determined to turn her life around. She earned an Associate's degree in Applied Sciences and began using her experiences to support others facing similar struggles. Now based in Asheville, North Carolina, Lynn is a committed advocate for those battling addiction and mental health challenges. Her work as a Community Health Worker and Peer Support Specialist is driven by a deep understanding of the obstacles her clients face. Lynn's personal journey from adversity to empowerment has equipped her with the empathy and insight needed to make a profound impact on the lives of others.
