VOICES OF AFFRILACHIA PROGRAM MANAGER
Antonette “Tonya” Cunningham is a Certified Addiction Drug Counselor and dedicated advocate for minority behavioral health, with a diverse background in corrections, case management, community health, and recovery support. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Shaw University and a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from AB Tech.
With extensive experience working with men, women, children, and the elderly—especially those in crisis, struggling with substance use, or facing mental health challenges—Tonya has served in various roles, including Correctional Officer, Case Manager, Recovery Coach, and Community Health Worker. She is now a Trauma-Informed Recovery Coach and stands as the Program Manager of Voices of Affrilachia (VOA) at Operation Gateway. It is here that she continues to make a profound impact in the field of addiction recovery and mental health.
Tonya is committed to continued education and knowledge in substance use, harm reduction, prevention, mental health, recovery, violence prevention, and suicide prevention. Her passion for supporting individuals through their healing journeys drives her work every day.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Tonya enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, listening to good music, savoring great food, traveling, and relaxing at home.
